Tabora. Urambo District Hospital nurse, Oscar Mwakipesile, was on Monday night killed by an angry mob after he was accused of murdering another resident of Izimbili Village.

Tabora Regional Police Commander Emmanuel Nley yesterday said the incidents occurred on Easter Monday.

Nley said the nurse allegedly accused Masoud Joachim of caressing his wife while they were on the dance floor.

Following Joachim’s action, the RPC said, Mwakipesile was enraged and stabbed Masoud on the left side of his chest with a sharp object.

He said revelers who were also dancing at the same venue chased and caught up with him 500 metres from the party scene and stoned him to death.

According to the RPC, both the deceased were drunk and that police are holding two suspects in connection to the incident, whose investigations are underway.

The chairman of Urambo District Council, who is also the councilor of the Uyumbu ward in which the incident occurred, said the late Mwakipesile once worked for Izimbili Dispensary and had invested in entertainment business.

Urambo Councilor Amatus Ilumba said they sadly received information about the death of the nurse and that they were making arrangements to transport his body to Mbeya Region for burial.

Urambo District Hospital’s medical officer-in-Charge Dr Ismail Kanani could not be reached as his phone went unanswered.
