Tabora. From a medical expert’s point of view, there are several factors behind a man’s gradual decrease in sex drive (libido).

The factors may include: age, stress and depression in marriages or relationship as well as some poor health conditions such as diabetes and even obstructive sleep apnea which can cause an unusually low testosterone level, hence reducing a man’s libido.

But these factors may have made little sense to a resident of Ntobo Village, Igunga in Tabora, Dumala Kalimba (45), who believed a gradual decrease in his libido was a result of his wife’s witchcraft practices.

Police in Tabora are now holding Kalimba for questioning in connection with the brutal killings of his wife.

“We have arrested him. The information we have collected so far is that he threw a machete into his wife’s head after a quarrel in which the man was accusing his woman of decreasing his libido through witchcraft practices,” the Tabora Regional Police Commander, Mr Emmanuel Nley, told The Citizen.

He warned Tabora residents against perpetrating superstitious beliefs.

Killings associated with superstitious beliefs are not uncommon in Igunga District, Tabora.
