Arusha. Ethiopian Airlines has announced major discount in fares ahead of the World Press Freedom Day to be hosted in Addis Ababa next month.

The international day to celebrate the fundamental principles of press freedom and associated meetings will attract 500 to 1,000 delegates.

A media dispatch from the airline said there will be a discount of 15 per cent of fares for the business class and 12 per cent for the economy class fares.

There would also be a 20 per cent discount on both business and economy class fares for all participants from Africa flying to Addis Ababa.

“This discount shall be available for flights to Addis Ababa and valid only to participants of the World Press Freedom Day”, affirmed Ms Fitsimt Dejene, the airline’s sales manager for Arusha and Kilimanjaro.

According to her, the discount is applicable on all base fares and shall apply on ET operated sector only.

Ethiopian, Africa’s largest carrier, is the official airline of this year’s World Press Freedom Day to be hosted in Addis Ababa from May 1st to 3rd.

This year’s World Press Freedom Day is jointly organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in collaboration with the African Union (AU).

It will take place at the AU headquarters and is themed; ‘Media for Democracy, Journalism and Elections in Times of Disinformation”.
