Dar es Salaam. Tanzania’s up and coming swimmer, Natalia Ladha, will compete in the United States championships and Florida Gold Coast Junior Olympic qualifying event at Martin County to be held in July. This is the biggest of the five swimming championships in the US.

Natalia, who is a member of the Dar es Salaam based Tanzania Life Saving Society Swimming Club (Taliss), will join Florida’s Swimfast Club in the championships.

This is the second time for Natalia to compete in a swimming event in the US after that of Miami held last July in which she won bronze medals in the finals of the 50m and 100m backstroke styles.

“It was difficult to qualify because I was competing for the first time in the event. I need a lot of experience and exposure. I’ve now gained a bit of these in the game as I managed to win gold medals and trophies in both Taliss invitational gala as well as national championships held at the International School of Tanganyika,” said Natalia. She said she is still gaining momentum in the game and currently, she sees a bright future in the game as she is the only Tanzanian who managed to feature in the Junior Olympic qualifying event.

Natalia managed to shine in seven events during the previous competitions. They were 200m freestyle in which she won a gold medal after clocking 2.44.46, 200m in individual medley (gold medal in 3.18.04), 100m backstroke (gold medal. 1.26.30), 50m butterfly, (gold; 40.03) and 100m butterfly (silver; 1.38.35). She also qualified for the 50m freestyle and won gold medal after clocking 34.60) and 100m freestyle and won gold medal after clocking 1.15.23).

The swimmer will also compete in Coral Spring swimming gala Age group long course in 50m swimming pool to be held on June 15 to 17 as we; as in Fort Lauderdale set for June 22 to 24 in USA.

Also in the list are Sectionals championships to be held at Gainesville from July 6 to 9, Area championships (July 13 to 15) at Sunrise.
