Dar es Salaam. Wales and England based Mathematica Global Holdings Limited has announced the direct acquisition of Economic Development Initiatives Tanzania (EDIT), a Tanzanian research firm.

The Fair Competition Commission (FCC) announced on Monday that it was investigating an intended acquisition.

“The FCC has received a merger notification to the effect that intends to acquire shares in Economic Development Initiative (the Direct Target Firm) which will result in an indirect acquisition of Economic Development Initiative Tanzania (the Indirect Target Firm),” said FCC in a public announcement.

This is in accordance with the provisions of the Fair Competition Act, 2003 and the Fair Competition Commission Procedure Rules, 2013. An announcement says an acquiring Firm is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mathematica Inc., a corporation formed under the laws of the State of Delaware, USA. Mathematica has no operations as it is a holding company.

It also owns Mathematica Policy Research Inc, the only operating company within the group that deals with research and analysis.

The EDIT is a private company that provides expert research services to clients for conducting program evaluations.

The programs being evaluated are funded by bilateral donors, multilateral donors, country governments, foundations, non-profit international organizations and universities.

EDIT provides services that cover survey design, questionnaire development and data analysis.
